London 2012 Paralympics Opening Ceremony

We are tremendously proud of London! The opening ceremony of the Paralympics on Wednesday was just brilliant. The theme was human endeavour and our refusal to accept boundaries. This was reflected in our achievements in science and Professor Hawking was present to introduce a series of performances honouring Newton and others. The set included a giant radio telescope, a huge earth that exploded in a sea of fireworks, astonishing acrobatics and of course the olympic cauldron and olympic flag.

The highlight was the parade of olympians through the stadium and the tremendous applause that accompanied every single athlete's appearance. Team GB were greeted to the sound of David Bowie's heroes.
